Existential Synthesis / 2023

“This body of work “Existential Synthesis” is a result of my attitude toward the modern human existence we’re now living within—climate transformation, overpopulation, social and ideological chaos, runaway technology, and so on. How do we as humans coexist or even adapt within these uncanny and divergent spaces? What will become of our modern way of living that seems at odds with the natural rhythm of our planet? These are the some questions that I ask myself when seeking to better understand where we are at as a human race in this particular point in our nascent history as a modern civilization. As these thoughts congeal I unpack the world around me thru this process of creation in an effort to find a refuge for understanding.
I began to think about this series while on my honeymoon in Italy in 2022. Experiencing the masterful paintings and sculptures at Uffizi in Florence & Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice impacted me in a profound way and prompted me to begin this series of works that have slowly begun to take on a trajectory of their own.”
